Generating leads is crucial to any small business (and really any business).

You have two ways to generate traffic: Organic and Paid Ads. One is free (or free in a sense) and the other is paid advertising to generate traffic for people in market or interested.

Everyone likes free including small businesses so that is a place that needs some attention if you are doing it yourself.

Organic means that people are finding you just by searching, referrals or just happen to come across your business in a some type of search. There are a whole lot of reasons why you may or may not be getting organic traffic which is a whole other topic. The key is you obviously NEED to be visible and be generating organic traffic.

So get as much organic traffic as you possibly can so that in the long run you will have to pay for little to no advertising.

However, it does take time to build up organic traffic and so here are some ways that you can and should be posting and engaging your customers in order to get traffic to your website. Here are a few FREE ideas to help you:

1. Posting on your Google Business page

   • Include a good photo and a message about the photo. Be sure to use relevant key words that people might use when searching

   • I would recommend posting once to twice a month on Google Business (you can post more obviously)

2. Google Reviews

   • When you have lots of good reviews, this helps your Search visibility.

   • People like to read reviews so having GOOD reviews is key. Having little to NO reviews can negatively impact the interaction your page gets organically (and even from paid ads when someone is looking at your reviews).

   • You must make it easy for someone to leave a Google review for you.

o   Join all of the community groups you can find on your social pages.

o   DON’T be overly salesy. Show how what you have will help people, share how awesome it is to do business in your community, share photos of your employees, etc.

5. Social Postings

o   Include your employees and customers in posts and tag them. This type of content usually generates more interactions.

6. Website Optimization

o   Make sure that your website is optimized and tweaked to include key words, meta tags, and more to ensure your Search Engine Optimization.

7. Blogging

o   This takes a little more work so you may want to have someone in your office do this for you.

o   Posts a blog from time to time to highlight your services and give free advice and tips (similar to this blog).
